Complaining might be the most annoying habit there is to overlook in another human being, whether it’s your spouse, a family member, a friend, or some asshole at your job, it’s fucking unbearable.

And it’s a self-reinforcing behavior. By constantly bitching (and thinking) about how bad things are, you reaffirm your negative beliefs on a daily basis… usually by finding everything (or any ONE thing) that’s wrong with a particular person, place, or event.

And it becomes a habit in which it’s the first thing you look for. Complaining attracts nothing but weakness, passivity, and persistent failure in life and it drives quality people away.

Negativity

Challenges and road blocks are an essential part of the human condition, and life itself. Life won’t always go the way you want it to, but it’s your attitude and frame of mind that often dictates your level of happiness and success.

We all have the same 24 hours in each day that everyone else has. How you spend it, is entirely up to you. It’s an independent choice. It’s YOUR choice. Happy people and successful people make the most of their time. They view time as a commodity, and they cherish it by the day, the hour, even down to the minute.

They’re literally HIGH on life because they’ve made it a point to make their life matter. They’ve filled it with the right energy, with positivity, with direction, with purpose and meaning. They have a reason to get up every day excited. Excited that they’re alive, and they’re ready to kick ass. They’re ready to take on the day and whatever challenges they have to overcome.

Instead of complaining about how things could have been or should have been, they reflect on everything they have to be grateful for and focus on what they need to do NOW to get where they want to be going forward.

They’re problem solvers who find practical solutions that are easy to apply and implement in their current lives. Nothing fuels depression quite like pessimism. And nothing is more pathetic than a helpless man, some whining bitch that has a convenient excuse for everything in life.

The problem with a defeatist, pessimistic attitude, apart from the damage that it does to your mood, is that it becomes a never ending self-fulfilling prophecy: if you expect bad things to happen, you’re more likely to get bad things.

It’s the Law of Attraction.

Negative thoughts are hard to shake off until you recognize how illogical they are. Force yourself to look at the facts, and you’ll see that things are not nearly as bad as they seem.

Hanging Out with Negative People

The world is filled with miserable fucking people, and misery loves company. Don’t be a part of that company! Negative people always want others to join in on their bitch-fest, so that they can feel better about themselves. They feel validated when others partake in their weak bullshit.

People living in polite society often feel obligated or pressured to listen to complainers because they don’t want to be seen as callous or rude, but there’s a fine line between lending a sympathetic ear and getting sucked into their negativity. But at the end of the day, you choose the company you keep. And that company often becomes a reflection of oneself.

If you surround yourself with miserable fucking losers, with negative complainers, and perpetual failures the negativity infects you like a disease. This is why it’s so vital to keep negative, pessimistic, miserable people the fuck out of your life. Keep them far away from you. Their negative energy alone is enough to infect you.

This is especially true at your place of work where most of us spend considerable amounts of our time. If you sense negativity and pessimism from a colleague, give them every sign they need to know that you don’t want them in your company. Be the powerful self-fulfilled man that you are, and avoid these motherfuckers like the plague. Or in the least, set limits and distance yourself when necessary.

Think of it this way: If a person were smoking, would you sit there all afternoon inhaling the second-hand smoke? You’d distance yourself, and you should do the same with negative people. A great way to set limits is to give them one word responses or even better, ask them how they’re gonna fix their problems. They never intend on actually doing that, so in response they’ll usually quiet down or get the hint and leave.

You should always strive to surround yourself with people who inspire you, people who make you want to be better, and people who bring out the best in you. Why do you allow people who drag you down to be a part of your life? Life’s too short to associate with these people. Cut em loose.
